A custom song library takes hours to build: charts downloaded, folders fixed, bad songs removed, favourites learned. A Windows reinstall, a new SSD or a careless “clean install” can delete it in seconds. Back it up before you need it, not after.

What to copy

  • Your entire data\songs\ folder from each game you play (vanilla and FoFiX have separate folders).
  • FoFiX themes you installed or made, and any custom backgrounds.
  • Your settings files, if you have calibrated timing or custom key bindings you do not want to redo.

How to back it up

  • Local copy first: copy the songs folder to an external drive or a second drive. This is the backup that saves you when the internet is down.
  • Cloud copy second: a cloud drive such as pCloud (sponsored) keeps a second copy off your machine, so a dead drive does not take the library with it. Check pCloud’s current plans before subscribing — this site does not quote a price it has not checked.
  • Test the restore: once a year, copy the backup into a fresh game folder on another machine (or a second folder) and confirm the songs actually load. An untested backup is a hope, not a backup.

After a restore, songs that do not appear are almost always a double-folder or file-name problem — see songs not showing.
